100+ inspiring gratitude quotes to keep or share | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration

Hi All,

I hope that you had a wonderful weekend that that this post finds you well. I am safely in New Orleans and had a fantastic first day of the conference. I'm looking forward to new learning and the positive ways that this will impact our school community and the larger district as a whole.

I was reminded today of the importance of gratitude in our daily lives today. If you could take a few minutes (7 to be exact) and watch this video. My challenge for the week would be to share a written, verbal or digital moment of gratitude for someone in our learning community and someone in your life outside of school. It's such a powerful and simple practice.  This video illustrates the positive impacts of this practice:

ADHD Memes - It's human to forget things occasionally, but... | Facebook

Hi All,

I'm so late, I'm actually ahead of next week's post! Seriously though, my apologies. I've been trying to be more proactive with you all this year in terms of information etc and sharing the blog is a way to do that. This short week has been a bit of a doozy.

I will be out tomorrow all day. Jess and Tyler are on deck and I am available if the sky is falling! You will have team meetings, Ashlyn sent you a plan and I have some documents that are in draft form for you all to look over as well.

Shoutouts

  • Amber D---you're doing a great job implementing the plan. I'm loving the "positive break" calls.
  • Amber B thank you for covering for P.E.
  • Betsy V for stepping in for 1:1 coverage

15 Funny and Inspiring DEVOLSON Teacher Memes for the Fall

Hi All,

I hope that you all had a good weekend. There is some serious leaf peeping activity happening around our state! I hope that you all found some beauty and just the right amount of human interaction. I also hope that the flu/covid shots didn't take anyone down.

The change of season and darkness is always tricky but I am so grateful for this weather! It does look like it will be cooler this week. Make sure that kids have sweatshirts and appropriate outside gear when they head out!

Shoutouts

  • Annalissa--thanks for orchestrating coverage
  • Erin Mullaney-- thanks for organizing the Flu/Covid clinic
  • Michelle M and Brittany--thank you for supporting your class a little extra last week
  • Megan M--Thanks for all the computer help
  • Kim Knapp--thank you for helping a 2nd grade student and stepping in to welcome the bussers
  • Shout out to Becky P. for coming down to 2nd grade to share, model, and kick off Our Explorer of the Day Project
  • Danny Velez for sharing valuable resources and showing he cares so much for his challenging learners

News and Announcements

  • Scheduling Reminder: Now that we are almost finished testing and you're getting used to your schedules. Please remember that your WIN times there should be no new/first instruction. WIN time can be used as menu time, small group rotations, independent practice or other teacher interventions.
  • Staff Meeting: We will be learning about Zones of Regulation at staff meeting this week.
  • New Danielson Framework: click here
  • Celia's Schedule: I am giving you my best guess. I may have to be out one full day for budget but that is still TBD. I will update you if necessary.
  • Recess Reminders:
    • The three staff on the recess schedule should determine who is going to stand in which Zone: Front (near the back of the building), middle, and back.
    • The Baseball field and the pavilion areas are now out of bounds.  The soccer fields are in bounds, however students are not to go past, or way over to the right near the woods/opening to the nature trail.
    • We are also going to try lining up K-2 a little later so they are not early and just standing their waiting.
  • Here's an interesting webinar/conversation put on by Embrace Race. As we enter the next month of the campaign and the election I will keep sending along resources and curricular support.

Join the conversation: The Meaning of Kamala Harris - for Our Kids and Ourselves

Thursday, October 10th, 8:30 - 9:30 pm ET

What does the upcoming presidential election and its historic identity choice mean for kids and their adults? Yes, there are huge questions of democracy and policy differences at play. But what we’d like to talk about is this: how and to what extent do Kamala Harris’ racial and gender identities, and the representation of those identities, matter? How do they matter for you? How do they matter for the kids in your life?

It’s our first Talking Race & Kids online conversation in a while and we’re pumped! Register to join us live and/or to receive the recording afterwards. Live Spanish interpretation will be available during the event.

We want your stories to be part of the conversation. What feelings, conversations and actions has the fact of this historic candidacy evoked in you and with the kids in your life? Share your stories when you register or emailing us: hugs@embracerace.org.

We’re thrilled to be joined by returning guests Drs. Allison Briscoe-Smith & Ralina L. Joseph and, of course, by you!
