Hello All,
I hope that this weekend brought you some moments of relaxation. Today marks the 28th year of my Mother's passing so I'm always searching to fill the world with a little extra kindness and love today. The sunshine was just what I needed. In a moment of serendipity I found this meme while scrolling and just had to share it with you all. It struck me as extra sweet because I have a vivid memory of watching this episode of I Love Lucy with her as a young kid in the hospital. Also, I think everyone one of us felt this in the last week!
In our building "the honeymoon is over" as they say. Remember to use the moments of behavioral struggle and see what we can do differently to support kids. If a larger number of children are struggling at a particular time of the day shake things up. Do students need a moment of calm after recess/lunch, do they need some silent and solo time between subjects? Behavior is communicating a need of some kind. What are your students telling you?
Staff Shout Outs:
- Chuck for recognizing that a student may need a little extra connection and offering to step up.
- Shout out to Sarah, Lisa A. and all of the intervention team for supporting in Amber's absence.
- Amber Kelley and Katherine McCauley for establishing great routines and expectations with their class. I can see the benefits in my library class.
- All staff for your flexibility and support in recognizing positive behaviors.
- The kids seemed to really enjoy recess and we're really proud of themselves. One student said "I think took the whole year to fill up one tube last year!" While, I'm certain that isn't true it was lovely to hear the excitement.
- Kitchen use is NOT permitted unless noted on a building use form. We do not currently have any building use forms that have requested kitchen use. If you are here after hours and see that someone is using the kitchen please report it to Lori or myself ASAP.
- Take a peek at this Indoor Recess Schedule and make sure that it makes sense. I'm looking for 3 volunteers to support 3-6 recess in the unlikely event of indoor recess. If you're up for it please note it in the comments and I'll pencil you in.
