Hi All,

I hope that you all got some rest and got some extra vitamin C in this weekend! The germs have officially arrived. I recognize the giant undertaking that sub plans are and please make sure that you are taking care of yourself.

We will have our first Options Based Drill on Thursday morning at 9:45. The Teacher Script can be found by clicking on the link. This is the letter that will be sent to all BES families tomorrow.

 Staff Shout Outs:

  • Megan Mitchell for covering for Kim on a moment's notice
  • Kirby and Jess for supporting 5/6th grade

  • Time-Out Reminder This is a great quick-read PDF version of what asking a child for a Time Out/Time Away/Reset can look/sound/feel like.
    • Be thinking of where your "buddy classroom" will be this year. We will collect this information later. Here's a quick refresh on what the "buddy classroom" is and how it can be useful to you as a teacher.
  • We are looking for an adult to help support U3 in the afternoon. Lucia is graciously doing this task now but sharing the load would be amazing! If you're interested please let Lucia or myself know ASAP. This would be extra pay for any hourly staff.
  • Open House is Wednesday night from 5:30-6:30. I will announce the ending of Open House at 6:30 over the PA system.
  • Goals---your Annual Goals Form is active in Vector. Please make sure that you fill out it out with a minimum of 2 goals for the year. Once you've completed the form please share it with me and then make a meeting with Lori for us to chat about them!

9.15

Hello All,

I hope that this weekend brought you some moments of relaxation. Today marks the 28th year of my Mother's passing so I'm always searching to fill the world with a little extra kindness and love today. The sunshine was just what I needed. In a moment of serendipity I found this meme while scrolling and just had to share it with you all. It struck me as extra sweet because I have a vivid memory of watching this episode of I Love Lucy with her as a young kid in the hospital. Also, I think everyone one of us felt this in the last week!

In our building "the honeymoon is over" as they say. Remember to use the moments of behavioral struggle and see what we can do differently to support kids. If a larger number of children are struggling at a particular time of the day shake things up. Do students need a moment of calm after recess/lunch, do they need some silent and solo time between subjects? Behavior is communicating a need of some kind. What are your students telling you?

Staff Shout Outs:

  • Chuck for recognizing that a student may need a little extra connection and offering to step up.
  • Shout out to Sarah, Lisa A. and all of the intervention team for supporting in Amber's absence.
  • Amber Kelley and Katherine McCauley for establishing great routines and expectations with their class. I can see the benefits in my library class.
  • All staff for your flexibility and support in recognizing positive behaviors.
    • The kids seemed to really enjoy recess and we're really proud of themselves. One student said "I think took the whole year to fill up one tube last year!" While, I'm certain that isn't true it was lovely to hear the excitement.
Thank you to those of you who are sending "shout outs," keep 'em coming!

Important Reminders:
  • Kitchen use is NOT permitted unless noted on a building use form. We do not currently have any building use forms that have requested kitchen use. If you are here after hours and see that someone is using the kitchen please report it to Lori or myself ASAP.
  • Take a peek at this Indoor Recess Schedule and make sure that it makes sense. I'm looking for 3 volunteers to support 3-6 recess in the unlikely event of indoor recess. If you're up for it please note it in the comments and I'll pencil you in.

Pin on Teaching

Hello All,

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. In very exciting news my sister gave birth to the her much anticipated 3rd baby this morning. He's a happy, healthy, 8lb 10oz baby boy with no name...yet! Mom and baby are doing well and his older siblings were thrilled to meet him! Stop on by for an adorable picture.

This first 5 day week at school is shaping up to be a busy one!

We will have staff meeting this week. We will view the second video in the Act 173 series and engage in some other activities surrounding the work we have ahead of us. This week at the start of our staff meeting I will briefly address the topic of dysregulation and touch briefly on the shift in behavioral practice that you may have noticed. All staff are welcome to join for this portion of the meeting, I don't anticipate it taking longer than 10 mins. It is not required and I will follow up with something in writing.

Staff Shout Outs:

  • Melissa Maring for always giving a friendly smile
  • Doreen for making extra copies for staff meeting last minute
  • 2nd grade team for helping a student feel successful
  • Kirby, great work on your first IEP meeting
  • Lynn for the spectacular laugh on Friday afternoon
Important Reminders:
  • Team Meeting/PLC time starts this week! We will work on norm setting and talking about structures to support our work.
  • Please fill out this Quick Poll to help direct the course for All School Meetings
  • Mandatory Trainings have a staggered end time this year. Please ensure that you have completed the first set. I believe the due date is Friday....don't quote me on that 😏
  • My schedule below is the best guess at what the week will look like. Lori will have the most accurate google calendar info.
  • Annual Goals--- I will have more information for you next week on Supervision and Evaluation documents and our annual goal setting form.

Hello Team,

Wow! I guess summer decided to show up for it's last weekend :) I hope that you all were able to get out and doing something that brings you joy in the sunshine. It was a busy but rewarding first week for me at BES. I didn't get out into classrooms as much as I had anticipated but I'm hoping to make more rounds this week! My brother got married on Saturday and the weather couldn't have been better. I'm heading into the week a little less prepared then normal but with a full heart and lots of hope!

Here are a few interesting articles:

Let's make it a great week!

Be Well,
Celia

Staff Shout Outs:

  • Danny, Ashlyn and Tyler---Thank you for stepping into the classroom teacher role to support a colleague!
  • Chuck---Thank you for the work that you did to support BES soccer. The lines look great.
  • Karen---Thank you for your additional student support, it made all the difference.
  • Michele--- Thank you for staying late to strategize to best support a kiddo.
  • Betsy--- I appreciate your clear communication with families.
  • Christine--- Thank you for stepping into multiple new roles last week, your flexibility is appreciated.
  • To All Staff---Thank you for the smiles and understanding as I navigate a new school and get to know students. I appreciate your kindness and humor.
***Remember: You can 'shoutout' a colleague here, just drop me a note!

Important Reminders:

  • Here is the BES Schedule Folder. If you haven't already please make sure to upload your individual class schedules. This allows us to best support students, it also gives me an idea of what you've got going on in your classrooms when.
  • Team Meeting/PLC Time will start next week.
  • BES Community Building Here is the document that I promised after the second day of inservice. We agreed that people could volunteer for one month of the year and that the group of people would do something to 'spoil' the staff. Please sign up for a time that works best for you if you're so inclined.
  • School Pictures are the 19th of September.
