Hi All, 

I hope that you enjoyed the gift that was this beautiful weekend! I saw this poem and felt that it was exactly what I needed. Oh my goodness. It has been a wild few weeks and the next three days are no different. I appreciate all of your flexibility and willingness to help out. 

News and Announcements: 

• Reminders: Both ESY and CC Summer Camp will be running in our building. 
• ESY will be utilizing the library and the following classrooms: 
• Downing
• Velez 
• Rob 
• Both PK spaces 
• Literacy Intervention Room 
• ESY runs from 9-2, 4 days a week
• July 6-9

• I believe CC will mostly be utilizing the Art/Music spaces.

• Step-Up will be from 9:30-10:00 on Wednesday 
• Whole School Meeting will run from 10:00-10:30  
• We will watch the video that you all created (sooo sweet!) and then I will have treats for teachers to bring back to their classroom.

• 6th Grade Send Off
• As is tradition the whole school will usher the 6th graders out of the building on Wednesday. We will have music playing and they will be celebrated getting on the busses or being dismissed to their grown-ups. 
• We will ask classes to line up in the 6th grade hallway and down the pathway to the busses. 
• Students who are "Caregiver Pickup" will be lined up and dismissed on the sidewalk in front of the school.

Hi All, 

I hope that you all got some projects done even though it was rainy. I wanted to share a HUGE celebration with you all. This year we had an incredible increase in responses to the WCUUSD Climate Survey from our families. Last year we had 13 responses, this year we had 55. This is a huge anecdotal piece of evidence in our connections with families. They are feeling comfortable taking the time to share with us how they are feeling. We will take some time to unpack the reports as a staff before the end of the year. Thank you for your commitment to ensuring that our families see us as a resource and a place to share. 

I'm waiting on confirmation but UVM may be back here to capture some of the joy and fun of field day/BES picnic on Wednesday. If you'd like to speak with them about our Community Schools Efforts please let me know and I can make a plan for getting you on camera.

• Hiring: 
• Art Teacher--- We have moved forward a candidate for this position. Once their hire is confirmed I will send out a bio to you all and to the greater BES community.
• BEDC (Berlin Extended Day Center) Site Director--- We have two candidates and are interviewing folks this week. 
• PE Teacher--- I am looking for folks who want to serve on this committee. If you are interested please let me know. 
• Note: I know this is a crazy time of year and it's important that there are multiple voices on a hiring committee. 
• Field Day: 
• Overview: 
• We will have Den Group rotation stations in the morning. Stations will end around 11:45. 5/6 Students will help clean up the stations from the morning. 
• Lunch Times: 
• 12:00-12:20 PK-- 2nd 
• 12:20-12:40--3/4
• 12:40-1:00 5/6
• From 1:00-2:40 Students will go back to their class groups and will have opportunities to play on the inflatables. Adults will be "supervisors" of stations and will have a set time.   
• Note: I will have a finalized schedule for you tomorrow. 
• Tuesday, June 9th--- This will be a funky day. We will only have K and 3rd and 5th grade in the building. We will consolidate to one lunch/recess hour. 
• All students will go to lunch first 11:40-12:10 and then recess from 12:10-12:40.
